US Stimulus Plan – $7.2B for Broadband

The US federal government is allocating $7.2B for broadband initiatives designed to benefit underserved and rural markets. Funding will be administered and distributed by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the Rural Utilities Service (RUS). The NTIA will oversee $4.7B and RUS will oversee $2.5B.

SkyPilot Stimulus Plan – Lower Price for SkyConnector Pro

We're going to do our part to help bring broadband wireless to underserved and rural markets.

In September 2008, we announced the SkyConnector Mini and SkyConnector Pro. Both products were designed to lower the cost of long-range point-to-multipoint CPE, with bundle packs of the SkyConnector Mini available at US$199 MSRP and the SkyConnector Pro available at US$399.

Both the SkyConnector Mini and SkyConnector Pro provide NLOS via OFDM, AES encryption, and LOS range up to 7 miles/10 km. The SkyConnector Pro integrates a higher-gain antenna, which provides better link budget over long-range links and is therefore nicely suited to sparsely populated rural markets.

To help service providers with the economics of building rural broadband wireless networks, we've decided to lower the price of the SkyConnector Pro by US$50. The MSRP will therefore be lowered to US$549 (quantity 1), US$449 (quantity 5), and US$349 (quantity 20).
