SkyPilot Announces SyncMesh Client for Ubiquiti Devices

We just announced SyncMesh™ Client, which is downloadable firmware that transforms Wi-Fi devices into WiMAX-like broadband wireless CPE. For those of you familiar with SkyPilot, the SyncMesh Client basically converts asynchronous 802.11a Wi-Fi devices into SkyConnectors, which provide synchronous last-mile connectivity to SkyExtenders and SkyGateway.

The first devices available with the SyncMesh Client firmware are Ubiquiti Networks’ line of high-performance and long-range outdoor broadband wireless products including the PowerStation5 (US$169), NanoStation5 ($89), NanoStation5 loco (US$69), and Bullet5 (US$59).

For US$99, SyncMesh converts these asynchronous Wi-Fi devices into synchronous WiMAX-like CPE that connect to SkyPilot's multi-hop point-to-multipoint base stations.

For more information, visit the SyncMesh Client portion of our website.

Free "Why Synchronous for Wireless" Whitepaper

One of the questions we often receive is "Why use a synchronous protocol for broadband wireless networks?" To help answer this, we've developed a short whitepaper that takes a analysis of asynchronous protocols like Wi-Fi/802.11 and compares them to synchronous protocols like SyncMesh and WiMAX/802.16. The whitepaper was written by SkyPilot's Chief Technical Officer (CTO) Randy Frei.

If you'd like to download this free whitepaper, it's available at http://www.skypilot.com/pdf/wp_WhySynchronousForWireless.pdf.

Join our Wireless Community on Facebook, YouTube, and Flickr

If you would like to connect with other people in the broadband wireless market, we'd like to help. SkyPilot is embracing the emergence of social networking sites like Facebook, YouTube, and Flickr to allow you to meet people like yourself and share experiences. We have chosen Facebook for its social networking capabilities, YouTube for its video sharing capabilities, and Flickr for its photo sharing capabilities. We've started by posting some videos and photos and we'd like to invite you to join this wireless community and share your own experiences.
